July 1999We bought a house! We have a lot to be thankful for this month. Last month we looked at a house in Ann Arbor, put an offer on that house, and had our offer rejected because the seller had already accepted another offer. We were very disappointed that we did not get that house, which seemed to be just what we were looking for. On June 6 we went up to Ann Arbor again to look for houses. After looking all afternoon and finding nothing that we liked we went back to look at a house we had looked at during our first house hunting trip to Ann Arbor in May. We had liked the house when we looked at it before but it had been out of our price range. We found out that the sellers had just had an offer fall through. So we decided to offer lower than what they were asking, thinking that there was no way we would get the house. We thought this even more when we learned another offer had come in that day. We left that night, thinking that we would not get the house and planning to go up the next Sunday to look again. Meanwhile our Realtor wrote the sellers a letter explaining to them what we are doing with Campus Crusade. The sellers turned out to be Christians who had ministered to Korean students on the University of Michigan campus. They were very excited to hear about what we are doing and decided to accept our offer! We have God to thank for this house. He worked it out that our offer was accepted. But long before that He worked it out that we would have the money to buy a house. Four years ago a distant cousin of mine who was old enough to be my grandmother died and left her money to me and my brother. Shelly and I took that money and invested it. Needless to say, the stock market has done very well since then, and because of that we had the money we needed to make the down payment on the house. Our closing was June 30 so we are officially homeowners! We are very grateful and hope to use our house to God’s glory. We will not move until August. We still have some support to raise and want to use most of our time finishing that. We also go to Colorado July 15 for two weeks of the biennial national staff conference with Campus Crusade. Thank you again for your prayers and for your
support! We are looking forward to when we can move into our house for
good and begin our ministry to students at Michigan.

This is our house in Ann Arbor. It has the large
eating and living areas that we wanted for when Michigan students come
over.
