Ravi Zacharias Lifts Up Christ On Campus

1100 night one; 1200 night two; 1400 standing room only and the use of an overflow room on night three. Ravi Zacharias wrapped up our God on Trial outreach explaining why he came to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth and Life. It was a brilliant explanation of the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and why He and only He offers hope for mankind.

What best characterized the event for me was the Ravi with Hani smaller.jpg (100730 bytes)ongoing exchanges between Ravi and a Muslim student named Hani [see picture at left]. On each evening Hani was one of the first ones up to ask questions. It was clear that he sincerely wanted answers and was not there just for his own recognition. Ravi was always very respectful, but he was also very direct. He challenged Hani on the beliefs of Islam and always seemed to address Hani’s underlying issues. Each night Ravi called on Hani to turn to Jesus Christ as the only one who can forgive his sins and give him life. It was a very powerful and personal plea in front of those large audiences! This was exactly the kind of exchange we were praying for—a sincere seeker graciously but firmly confronted with the truth of the gospel.

Audience panorama smaller.jpg (159115 bytes)I am sure Hani was not the only one seeking the truth at these meetings and we hope to continue to discuss these issues with these students. We will hold a four week discussion series in every dorm on campus  for these interested students. We will address the existence of God, the problem of evil, the uniqueness of Jesus and the difference these issue should make in their lives. Please pray that many non-Christians will come and be a part of these groups and that some would come to Christ. I will be leading one of these groups starting Thursday, February 13.

Kids' Corner

My biggest news is that I’m a big boy now! I don’t wear any more diapers, only big boy underwear. I get to get a sticker on the calendar each day I am dry and clean. Mom laughed really hard when I got the stickers down one day when she was busy and put them on all the blank squares on the calendar. I don’t understand. She said when I got lots of stickers I could go on long car trips to see my grandparents, so I made sure I got lots of stickers.

I have been going to story-time at the library each week with Mommy. My friend is there, too. I don’t sing much there, but the whole way home Mommy hears the songs we sang. I get a sticker on my hand each week, too!

I have more freedom now—Mommy and Daddy took down the gates. It’s fun to go up and down the steps, but Mom gets nervous when I try to go down on my bottom. I’m tired of hearing, “Turn over on your belly.”

I have gotten to do a lot of coloring lately. We have washable crayons, which Mommy really likes. I keep getting in trouble for taste-testing the different colors. Why can’t Mommy just keep her back turned a little longer?

Daddy was in Indianapolis for a conference last weekend. I made sure Mommy knew I missed him by crying for him for 2 hours during the night Saturday. Mommy looked kind of tired on our way to church the next day.

The kids were glad to get out and play in the snow after a very cold winter stuck inside. Notice that even the snowmen in Ann Arbor are celebrating the Buckeyes’ national championship!

Prayer for Spring Break

Please pray for Nate as he travels to Florida for spring break with about 50 students. Pray that these students will take the next step in their relationships with God as they share their faith on the beach and are taught from the word.

Also, pray that Lauren will sleep better than she did last time with Nate gone. I want to make our time without Nate a fun time and not a sad time, so pray that we can look back on each day and think of something fun that we did.
