Pursuing God Through His Word

Once again I have been able to help staff and students pursue knowing Jesus Christ though study of the Bible. One of my favorite roles on staff is to teach Bible study methods at Campus Crusade’s New Staff Training. I was able to coach a small group (above) on how to study the word through careful exploration and interpretation of the text. We also emphasized heart level response to God through His Word in response to our sin.

My second role of the summer is helping to lead The Edge with 54 undergrads from across the country. They are taking Old Testament Survey (in class below), New Testament Introduction and Bible Doctrine. For many of these students it is the first time they have had in depth study of the Bible and theology. It is our prayer that this will whet their appetite to continue a life-long pursuit of knowing God.

I think maybe I’ve missed my true calling as a mountain man (minus the long hair, camouflage and beard). I’ve had a couple chances with the Bible study methods coaches (above) and a couple times with The Edge students (below) hiking in some incredibly beautiful areas in the mountains of northern Colorado. Somehow Michigan just doesn’t compare!

Family Time in the Rockies

Even though Nate has been very busy we have had a few times to get away as a family. First we took the kids on a test hike near Fort Collins (below). Then we did the real thing, hiking up to Lake Agnes, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park (other pictures). The kids thought the snow covering the trail was cool and enjoyed the chipmunk that tried to eat our goldfish. We were so proud of them for making it up and down without much griping!

The kids and I have kept very busy doing lots of fun stuff including visiting parks and museums. This week Andrew and Lauren began their very first swim lessons and we anticipate they will move away from their floaties before long.
