February 2006Spring Break TripsI will enjoy my second spring break at home in as many years. I had originally planned to go to Turkey, but our baby boy who will soon be here changed those plans. I will be evaluating the application of people applying for staff and internships with Campus Crusade during this week. Meanwhile, our staff and students are going all over the country and the world on these trips: Turkey—This is our partnership country where our students will work with our short term workers in Istanbul to reach students on many campuses in that city. A couple of my leaders will be on this trip.Hungary— Staff and students will be doing similar ministry in this country as a way to keep connected to this country with whom our region may begin a partnership.Miami—A number of our students and staff will be headed to sunny south Florida. They will be working with the local staff team in Miami to help launch a ministry at a largely Hispanic campus. I also hear they have some pretty nice beaches there!New Orleans—The largest number of our students will be headed here to help with Katrina relief efforts. Like many other organizations, CCC has had a very active presence in the areas affected by the hurricanes. Milwaukee —A few of our students are headed here to work with our inner city ministry. Please pray for safety for all these trips. Pray that God would work through our students and staff to draw people to Christ and meet their physical needs. Also pray that God would be working in our students’ lives through the experiences they have on these trips. Kids’ ColumnIt sure is tough to be inside in the winter. Last weekend it was warm enough to go to the school and play at the playground. And I guess McDonald’s isn’t too bad. I turned 6 last week. I have been telling my parents that I won’t have a “5” in my age again until I’m 15. They don’t want to think that far for some reason.
It is so much fun to watch Mommy’s belly move. If I press on it my brother pushes back against me. It will be fun to have a baby brother. I have even practiced having a baby—Mommy has delivered a breech baby, another baby and a Care Bear lately. I think it’s a pretty easy thing, really. We now have a bag of flour and a bag of M & Mm’s to show how much the baby weighs. It is pretty heavy!
Did you know that I can climb up to the top bunk all by myself? Mommy didn’t seem too happy when she found me up there. She ruined my fun and made me come down. Wonder why I’m not allowed in that room now? I’m still holding off on saying too many words clearly. From what Andrew and Lauren tell me, once you start talking you are expected to use your words all the time. I enjoy screaming too much—it’s easier!
