January 2008The Need for College MinistersThis graph depicts why reaching college students is so vital. While there is someone reaching out for every 19 high school students, there is only one person for every 1572 college students (and both student demographics are the same size: approx. 17 million). Given the trend that 50% of Christ-following high school students walk away from the faith at age 18, college students are in desperate need of people to pour into them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Thank you for your financial support and prayers which allow us to be one of the few focusing on college students. We are so thankful for you and your partnership in our ministry to these students!
Kids' ColumnWe are having fun in the snow! We have had 2 storms that brought a lot of snow so we have been playing outside and made these snowmen as it was beginning to rain this weekend. We had a fun New Year’s Eve party with 9 of our friends spending the night. Everyone except Caleb stayed up until after midnight! We learned about “the ball” that drops and got to watch it drop. We made crafts, played games and just played with our friends. We got about 7 or 8 inches of snow that night so Mommy got to shovel the next morning so all the parents could get in our driveway to pick up their kids. Mommy was glad to have Mrs. Burke to keep her company with all of us kids here! Lindsey turned 4! We have told her that 4 is fun, but she’s not so sure yet!
Note from ShellyI appreciate all of your prayers as Nate has been traveling—Christmas Conference and now a training trip to San Antonio. God arranged for our neighbor to pull in his driveway just as I was getting the hoods up on our vehicles to jump start the van so we could get to church. He was so nice to help me out! God has done a mighty work in my life over the past couple years and especially this past year in giving me peace while Nate is gone and in teaching me to be dependent on Him. -Shelly |
