Our New House!
God’s Provision
On
Monday, August 4 we took possession of our new house. We began moving in stuff
we had had in storage over the summer since selling our old house in May.
We have
already been able to use the house for ministry in ways we would not have been
able to do as easily in our old house. We hosted a meeting of the U-M Shepherd
Team (a student leadership team) as we planned a welcome back retreat scheduled
for next week. We now have enough room that the kids could play in the basement
and outside and not disturb our meeting. We hope to be able to host many more
group meetings and socials in the future.
Our New Neighborhood
One of
the big reasons for moving was to be in a neighborhood with other kids. This
neighborhood has been even more than we had hoped for in that respect with boys
and girls, around the same age as our children, in abundance on our street. The
kids have had a blast already playing with their new friends, riding their bikes
on the sidewalks (which we did not have at our old house), and having a real
backyard to play in (they had to play in our front yard at our old house on a
fairly busy pass-through street).
Lindsey
and Caleb have friends next door! It is such an answer to prayer to see our kids
making friends and being able to ride their bikes—in fact, the first thing
Andrew asks after breakfast is, “Can I ride my bike?”
Our
neighbors have been very friendly, with a number of them bringing us goodies to
welcome us to the neighborhood! We look forward to getting to know a new group
of people and hope for opportunities to share the love of Christ with them.
Kids’ Perspective
Andrew
likes having his own room and the girls are dreaming of their “princess room”.
Although I think their ideas of what the room will look like and our ideas are a
bit different! How do you make a room look like a castle????
Opening
the boxes with the kids has been so much fun—like Christmas. The girls put
together their dolls’ beds, swings and strollers right away. Caleb hugged a toy
and said, “I miss you.” The Legos quickly found a new home in Andrew’s room.
After all
the moving around we did this summer the kids are glad to be able to say, “This
is our home.” And so are we!

Fall Launching Soon
Now that
the essentials are unpacked we are turning our attention to the fall. Please
pray for the incoming students as we seek to introduce them to Jesus Christ as
the source of true satisfaction.
The Ardle
Academy (our homeschool) will start later this month. Please pray as I balance
unpacking and organizing for school.
AWANA is
what the kids are most excited about. Pray that they will make what they learn
heart knowledge and not just head knowledge.
